Parkview Square, also often referred to as the "Gotham building", due
to its Art Deco architectural style that resembles the fictional Gotham
City of Batman legend. A golden crane in the middle of the open plaza greets you - apparently the crane is
pointing towards China. The building is "guarded" by eight gigantic statues of men
holding a light ball in their hands. Unsurprisingly, one of the most expensive buildings in Singapore.

I spent a pleasant evening at Clarke Quay catching up with an old friend, Karen, who is in Singapore on an important mission - trying to ascertain why 40% of British teachers leave the profession after just 4 years. I solved the problem for her easily, and could have saved the taxpayer thousands of pounds, had I been asked first!

Sights of Saigon: Saigon Post Central Office, the largest post

early European railway stations; two enterprising Vietnamese ladies earn a good living by cooking lunches in their portable kitchens; one of the tanks that stormed the Presidential Palace at the end of the war and Dave meets Ho Chi Minh.

A Gold Class cinema ticket ensured we watched The Hobbit in great comfort, enhanced by waiter service, who delivered popcorn, hot chocolate and a gingerbread crumble latte to our loungers!
